About Me
Dear fellow explorers,
My name is Ella Skelson and this is my story...
Long gone are the days of waiting all year for one week of freedom. Like many people I know, I am lucky enough to have made travel a large part of my life. Leaving the UK is now as routine as eating my breakfast in the morning, but way more fun.
I decided to create Ella's Travel Diaries in 2023 with the goal of inspiring others to travel in a way that's both thrilling and meaningful. Reading this blog will allow you to feel like you're exploring the world by my side in your day-to-day life.
I hope this blog will encourage you to make the most of this exciting and breathtaking world and to not let anything or anyone hold you back.
Good luck in your future adventures; however, for now, subscribe for tips, updates, and future bucket list ideas while we travel the world side by side.
Bucket list Ideas
My first solo adventure
Rome, the heart of Italy, where my life truly began.
I had just quit university after completing one term with not a single idea for what my future held. Broke and desperate for a new venture, I discovered a £20 flight.
Two weeks later, I was exploring the capital city of Italy, discovering its fascinating culture, and meeting strangers along the way. This trip truly ignited a passion for travel that I will forever hold in my heart.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do, they say. So I decided to eat and drink my soul out, diving so deeply into their culture that I didn't even want to come up for air.
I stayed central, locating a hostel just a 15-minute walk from the infamous Colosseum. This is a true bucket-list experience when viewing the history of Rome.
My one piece of advice when visiting the luxurious city of Rome is to walk everywhere. There is so much happening in the city that you are unaware of. You always stumble across the unexpected, discovering new bustling streets or golden churches cloaked behind wooden doors.
As a solo female traveller, I felt extremely safe and secure in this city, even when I was walking back from the club at 8 a.m.
